Christopher Harvey

Christopher is a seasoned strategic policy advisor with documented successes in legislative affairs on the federal, state, and local levels. He has accumulated ten years of public policy and political advocacy experience in both the public and private sectors.

He currently serves as the Interim Associate Director of the Social Justice Institute at Philander Smith College. In this role, Christopher directs and manages the Institute to ensure implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion program objectives and social justice initiatives through research, policy, advocacy, and academic programming.

Most recently he served as a policy advisor to Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) in the U.S. House of Representatives. In that role he managed an extensive legislative portfolio that consisted of the House Science, Space, & Technology Committee, Agriculture, Appropriations, Budget, Education, Financial Services, Homeland Security, Housing, Immigration, Intellectual Property, Judiciary, NASA/Space, Social Security, and the United States Postal Service. Christopher was also appointed to serve as the House Deputy Director of the Joint Congressional Staff Task Force on Racial Justice and Reform that was charged with amplifying legislative solutions through proposed policy recommendations.

Christopher, a native of Missouri City, TX, is a proud HBCU graduate of Texas Southern University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a graduate of the George Washington University (GWU) where he received his Master’s Degree in Legislative Affairs. In 2019, Christopher was recognized as a “Trailblazer in Politics” by GWU’s Graduate School of Political Management. His current professional and community leadership includes Texas Southern University National Alumni Association, Congressional Black Associates, Urban League of Arkansas Young Professionals, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
